Mechanic A

Position Summary
 

The Mechanic A is a senior-level technician responsible for performing complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel buses and transit vehicles. This role ensures the fleet operates safely and efficiently, supporting the daily transit needs of Visalia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, HVAC, brakes, engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
     
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections.
     
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
     
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and supervisors to ensure fleet readiness.
     
  •  Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
     


 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Certifications Required:
     
  • Four (4) ASE Truck or Transit Bus certifications, including T6 or H6 Electrical Systems.
     
  •  EPA 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty diesel bus or truck maintenance.
     
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  •  Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
