Lead Teacher

Lead/Assistant Teacher

Manoa Nursery School | Havertown, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

Manoa Nursery School is seeking a passionate, nurturing, and Christ-centered Lead Teacher to guide young children in their academic, social-emotional, and spiritual development. The Lead Teacher will create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where children experience the love of Christ while building foundational skills for lifelong learning.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to Christian values, excellence in early childhood education, and a heart for partnering with families to support the growth of each child. Through intentional teaching, positive relationships, and servant leadership, the Lead Teacher will help fulfill our mission of sharing the Gospel with children while fostering curiosity, confidence, kindness, and character.

Essential Responsibilities

Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with school curriculum goals.

Integrate biblical principles, Christian values, and age-appropriate Gospel teachings into daily classroom experiences.

Foster children's academic readiness through hands-on learning, exploration, literacy, math, science, and creative activities.

Support social-emotional development by teaching emotional regulation, empathy, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and positive relationship skills.

Create a classroom culture that reflects Christ's love, grace, kindness, and respect for others.

Observe and assess student progress and communicate effectively with families regarding growth and developmental milestones.

Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom volunteers.

Collaborate with administration and fellow staff members to support school goals and continuous improvement.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, school events, and family engagement activities.

Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, safety, and school policies.

Qualifications

Required

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (or equivalent experience as permitted by state regulations).

Experience teaching preschool or early childhood-aged children.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Demonstrated commitment to Christian values and willingness to support the mission of Manoa Nursery School.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Experience in a Christian school, church ministry, or faith-based educational setting.

CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices and positive behavior support strategies.

Participate in prayer, Bible stories, worship experiences, and faith-based activities appropriate for young children.

Physical Requirements

Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the day.

Ability to lift, carry, and move classroom materials and equipment as needed.

Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and participate in children's activities.
