Dental Front Office Receptionist
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Dental Front Office Receptionist is the first interaction patients have with Franklin Dental Care and Dentures and is responsible for setting the tone for the entire visit. This role oversees appointment coordination, patient intake, communication flow, and insurance verification within a busy Medicaid-focused dental environment.
This position operates as a central administrative control point. It requires precision, composure, and strong organizational discipline. The individual in this role must maintain accurate documentation in Dentrix, confirm insurance eligibility prior to care, and ensure all front-office systems are followed consistently.
This is a structured, performance-driven position. It is designed for someone who thrives in fast-paced settings, values accountability, and can remain professional under pressure while still delivering a positive patient experience.
Starting Salary & Compensation
$18 per hour
Full-time | Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Two Saturdays per month required
Approximately 40–44 hours per week

Franklin is a growing community south of Dayton known for its revitalized downtown and riverfront. Applicants must currently reside within reliable commuting distance. Relocation-based applicants will not be considered.

Objectives
- Welcome and register patients professionally and efficiently
- Manage the daily appointment schedule with accuracy and control
- Answer incoming calls promptly and maintain structured phone flow
- Verify insurance coverage prior to appointments, especially Medicaid plans
- Enter and maintain accurate patient data within Dentrix while protecting HIPAA compliance
- Collect payments and assist patients with billing-related questions
- Coordinate smoothly with clinical staff to support operatory flow
- Document patient communication clearly and thoroughly
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and workflow efficiency
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum two years of experience in a dental office setting
- Proficiency in Dentrix (scheduling, chart review, and code entry)
- Experience verifying dental insurance benefits; Medicaid familiarity strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Competencies
- Dentrix software proficiency
- HIPAA compliance awareness
- OSHA understanding
- CPR certification preferred
- Knowledge of infection control protocols
- Understanding of common dental procedures and related medications
- Ability to follow structured office systems without deviation
Transportation Requirements
Applicants must have reliable transportation and currently live within commuting distance of Franklin, Ohio. Out-of-area candidates will not be considered.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative tasks
- Ability to stand periodically to assist with front or back office coordination
- Frequent use of hands for typing and operating office equipment
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to move efficiently throughout the office as needed
