Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association (FEDA)

Job title: Product Data Manager

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

FEDA seeks an individual to lead FEDA’s data governance and quality work, which ensures the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, consistency, and accountability of the foodservice equipment and supplies industry's shared master product data assets.

The person in this role owns the FEDA Data Portal, a centralized product database that manufacturers submit to and distributors across the industry rely on, and is accountable for the volume, accuracy, and usability of the data within it.

Data Portal Ownership

  • Own day-to-day operation of the FEDA Data Portal, including data intake, transformation, quality control, and publication
  • Maintain a manufacturer data submission cadence and report portal growth and data health to the CEO on a defined schedule
  • Serve as FEDA's technical point of contact for the Data Portal platform vendor, tracking releases, defects, migration milestones, and API development against agreed timelines
  • Evaluate and operate tools that accelerate data intake and enrichment, and hold final accountability for the quality of anything they produce
  • Recommend changes to product attributes, categories, features, and measures based on industry needs and member feedback
  • Monitor portal usage to ensure compliance with published terms of use
  • Uphold data and information security standards, and maintain standards of operation for handling and archiving data
  • Assess system performance and recommend improvements to database structure, storage, and supporting software
  • Support integration work with configure-price-quote (CPQ) platforms and other business systems, including data structure walkthroughs with prospective technology partners

Data Management and Transformation

  • Map raw manufacturer data—product information management (PIM) exports, price lists, spec sheets, catalogs, images—into FEDA's product data standard
  • Build and maintain reusable mapping tools and transformation logic so recurring manufacturer submissions do not require starting from scratch
  • Perform quality assurance and validation on every file prior to upload, including category and enumeration checks, unit of measure conversion, duplicate detection, and discontinued-product reconciliation
  • Manage bulk uploads, updates, and exports, and troubleshoot rejected or malformed records
  • Exercise judgment on incomplete source data, including when a field should be left empty rather than partially populated

Manufacturer and Member Engagement

  • Work with the CEO to recruit and onboard manufacturers to the Data Portal
  • Guide manufacturer data teams through submission requirements via API, template, or bulk file, and follow up persistently until data arrives
  • Support distributor members on portal access, data formats, and content gaps
  • Recommend and lead member training on the portal and on data standards
  • Serve as the technical resource on membership conversations where the Data Portal is central to the value proposition
  • Participate and present at FEDA and industry events on data standards and portal participation
  • Provide support for industry committees and working groups focused on data standards

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, information systems, engineering, statistics, or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience working with real datasets, through professional work, an internship, or coursework; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Advanced Excel, including lookup and index functions, and comfort working in files with 100+ columns and tens of thousands of rows
  • Ability to read a data dictionary or schema and independently map source data to a target structure
  • Ability to translate technical requirements for non-technical manufacturer and distributor audiences, in writing and in person
  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to set a work plan, hold a schedule, and follow through without close supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to do careful validation work
  • Hybrid schedule based in Rosemont, Illinois preferred; remote candidates will be considered for the right fit
  • Occasional travel required

Additional Skills of Interest

The following are not required, and we do not expect any candidate to bring all of them. They are the skills that tend to separate someone who performs in this role from someone who excels in it, and FEDA will support the right person in developing them.

  • SQL and relational database fundamentals
  • Python or comparable scripting for data transformation
  • Power Query, VBA, or macro development in Excel
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts, controlled vocabularies, enumerated values, and taxonomies
  • Experience with PIM, master data management, ERP, or e-commerce catalog data
  • Exposure to distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain environments

Salary and Benefits

  • Starting salary range: $72,000 to $82,000, commensurate with experience, with annual merit-based increases and bonus eligibility
  • Employer-paid medical and dental coverage
  • Generous pension plan
  • Hybrid work options, with flexibility for a fully remote arrangement
  • Flexible vacation and time-off options
  • An opportunity to own a national initiative that is reshaping how an entire industry shares product data
  • A small and supportive team of professionals
  • Exposure to various aspects of the programming and operations of a national association
