Support Staff Position – Bedford, NYPosition: Community & Direct Support StaffLocation: Bedford, NYSchedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, approximately 9:00/10:00 AM–4:00 PMFlexibility: Some flexibility with the schedule from week to weekPay: $37/hourMileage: Mileage reimbursement provided for community outingsAdditional: Lunch stipend providedAbout the PositionWe are seeking a caring, reliable, and energetic companion to work with a young woman in her early 20s with Global Apraxia. The ideal candidate will enjoy building a meaningful relationship, getting out into the community, and helping her explore new activities and experiences while providing support with daily routines and independence.ResponsibilitiesProvide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including occasional assistance with dressing, bathing, and toileting as neededProvide supervision and assistance with IADLs, mobility, and navigating the communitySupport participation in community activities, outings, and social opportunitiesHelp identify and introduce new activities, experiences, and interestsEncourage independence, confidence, social engagement, and meaningful participation in the communityProvide companionship, encouragement, and positive support throughout the dayHelp create a safe, engaging, and supportive environmentDrive your own vehicle for community outings; mileage will be reimbursed at the current rate of $0.76/mileIdeal CandidatePatient, compassionate, reliable, and dependableComfortable providing occasional hands-on personal care when neededEnjoys working with young adults with developmental disabilitiesCreative and willing to think of new activities and community experiencesComfortable driving and spending time in the communityEnjoys building relationships and supporting someone's independenceLooking for a consistent part-time position with some flexibility from week to week
