Opinion Intern

The Dallas Morning News offers an internship in our Editorial Department at the downtown Dallas office. The main responsibility for this intern will be writing and researching online columns expressing his or her personal point of view, as well as aggregation posts that summarize others' opinions. The intern will learn how to use audience metrics as a way to help inform -- but not dictate -- topic selection, as well as assist in selection and publication of editorial cartoons and editorial research projects.

Applicants should send no more than eight (8) opinion writing clips or links. They should also include 200 words on why opinion writing is important to them, as well as the types of topics they'd be interested in writing on and why.

A cover letter and resume with references are required with all applications. Application materials will not be returned, and applicants should not expect an explanation of why their application was accepted or rejected.

Application deadline is November 1 and we will make every attempt to inform applicants of their hiring status no later than Jan. 1.

Applicants must be enrolled in college and working toward a degree (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate) or they may have graduated within six months prior to the internship start date.
