Intern Digital Design and Data
JOB DESCRIPTION *
Digital design and data interns collaborate with reporters, editors and photographers to produce digital products on deadline to help explain and visualize breaking news and feature stories. They conceptualize and build standalone and complementary data visualizations, interactive graphics and story presentations using HTML, CSS and JavaScript/JQuery.
Applicants should send their 8 best samples or links. We are interested in artists who can produce beautiful interactives or provide enhanced data visualizations and have work that demonstrates an ability to do so.
Applicants should indicate in the application email what role they played in a project if a work sample was part of a larger package.
A cover letter and résumé with references are required with all applications. Application materials will not be returned, and applicants should not expect an explanation of why their application was accepted or rejected.
The application deadline to receive applications is November 1 and we will make every attempt to inform applicants of their hiring status no later than Jan. 1.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be enrolled in college and working toward a degree (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate) or they may have graduated within six months prior to the internship start date.
Previous daily newspaper experience is requested.
