Flight Safety Communication Analysis Fall CoOp (3 rotating semesters)
This position will gain exposure to the entire flight safety process at a major air carrier including exposure to the data and decision science processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating analysis based on pilot reports (ASAP), aircraft recorder data (FOQA), and other data sources such as damage data, injury information, meteorological conditions, crew background, and human performance data. Responsibilities include duties to support the Flight Safety Data and Decision Science team, Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) team, Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) team, and Air Safety Investigations team. These duties will involve data collection, transformation, modeling, and presentation of information derived through analysis. The data collected supports Delta's Safety Management System (SMS) which is a cornerstone of Delta's pro-active accident and incident prevention system.
Core Responsibilities:
- Investigate, analyze, and integrate information from disparate datasets
- Develop and test hypotheses through iterative analysis
- Work closely with data scientists to create clear summaries of results
- Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes disemmination of information to key stakeholders
