Human Resources - Summer Intern - Unpaid

Summary of Position:
The intern will assist with all aspects of the human resources department: training and development, employee engagement, recruiting, records management, compensation, employment law.

Essential Job Duties
City of Delray Beach - Summer Internship Program 2021
Dates: June 1, 2021 – August 6, 2021

Learning Goals:
  • Develop knowledge of city government operations 
  • Understand the role of the human resources department 
  •  Successful development and implementation of Human Resources project
Essential job functions:
  • Work with mentor to select major project of interest
  • Research, design and implement project , working with staff from applicable departments
  • Participate in intern workshops and events
  • Assist with design and delivery of training classes
  • Assist with employee engagement activities
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to assist with preparation and delivery of in-house training
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, HRIS, Applicant Tracking System

Students should consult with academic faculty to determine if this unpaid experience will earn credit.


Minimum Qualifications
Current college or university junior or senior, with major coursework in Human Resources, Public Administration, Communications, Organizational Development or related field.
