This position is located in the Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is responsible for management and financial integrity of DOE programs, activities, and resources through development, implementation, and governance of Department and government-wide policies and systems for budget administration, including development and execution.

Responsibilities

  • This is a developmental position with promotion potential to an Accountant, GS-0510-11. At the lower levels, the selectee will perform developmental assignments under closer supervision than that required at the full performance level of GS-11. Assignments become progressively more difficult until the next performance level is reached. At the full performance level GS-11, duties may include:
  • Support accounting operations, prepare financial reports and analysis, reconcile financial data, and comply with financial management policies, guidelines, and regulations such as Comptroller General Decisions, Federal Accounting Standards and Federal Legislation established by Congress, GAO, OMB, Treasury, OPM, and the Federal Accounting Standards Board (FASAB).
  • Work with financial risk management framework, internal controls, management oversight, risk analysis, and corporate reviews. Implement policies, coordinate data inputs, and addresses policy issues. Recommend revisions and identify changing requirements.
  • Monitor accounting systems, identify problems, and recommend solutions. Analyze and reconcile accounts, perform automated accounting assignments, and develop procedural manuals and directives.
  • Participate in special projects, gather data, participate in and track audit findings, research and prepare financial papers.
