Marketing and Communications Specialist (temporary)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Director of Digital Marketing and the Vice President of Communications and Marketing, the Marketing and Communications Specialist provides assistance to the association, its branches and departments in the detailed development of marketing/communications collateral and training materials by interpreting and applying national brand guidelines to a range of print and digital assets. This Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for providing marketing project management software training and brand compliance training, as well as auditing all YMCA print media and facilities for compliance. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage Lucidpress document approvals - review and approve documents in the agreed-upon timeline
  • Create new Lucidpress brand templates for YMCA staff to use
  • Create on-brand print and digital assets for multiple internal clients that accurately meet project goals and deadlines
  • Develop relationships within the YMCA to foster a collaborative work environment
  • Take photos and develop graphics and illustrations using Adobe Illustrator
  • Utilize project management software to track projects keep internal clients updated on project status
  • Meet project deadlines and ensure materials are thoroughly proofed and approved prior to release
  • Manage the document revision process
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure all files are submitted successfully for production
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal clients from all business areas to help formulate marketing strategies using various forms of communication
  • Develop and facilitate marketing trainings for association staff
  • Communicate with all clients utilizing the Y's core values and philosophies

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a design or communications related field preferred.
  • At least 1 years’ experience in a design or communications role.
  • A portfolio website that clearly demonstrates past work.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) as well as Google Business Apps, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus, but not required.
  • Team player with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility and composure in high-pressure situations.
  • A self-starter with experience working on projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Dependable transportation is required and must be able to travel as required by the position.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects and priorities is essential.
