Position Overview - Clinical Psychologist
Under general direction, serves as Clinical Psychologist. Diagnoses individual's mental illness and provides professional psychological assessment and treatment services for a broad range of intellectually and developmentally disabled adults throughout the facility. Prepares and signs certificates for admission. Provides testimony as an expert witness in court proceedings. Serves as a working supervisor to lower level staff. 

Job Responsibilities - Clinical Psychologist
1.  Serves as working supervisor. 
2.  Serves as Clinical Psychologist. Determines and authorizes level of privileges or restrictions for individuals, including home visits, campus passes, suicide alerts and watches, restraints, etc. in accordance with facility policies.
3.  Prepares and signs certificates for admission. Determines necessity of continued admission for individuals and the admission status (Voluntary, Involuntary or Judicial commitment). Approves discharges when clinically indicated. Completes and signs certificate for Involuntary or Judicial commitment and provides testimony as an expert witness in court proceedings.
4.  Diagnoses individual's mental illness and provides professional psychological assessment and treatment services for a broad range of intellectually and developmentally disabled adults throughout the facility. Provides psychological evaluation of personality, psychopathology, intelligence, neuropsychological status, etc.
5.  Provides psychotherapy for individuals in individual, group, or family contexts to resolve psychological and interpersonal problems, develop coping and planning skills, and improves personal, social, and occupational functioning.
6.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications - Clinical Psychologist
Requires a doctoral degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by two years of supervised experience in health services of which at least one year is post-doctoral and one year is in an organized health service program.
Requires Licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
OR
A master's degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by at least six years of experience as a psychologist with at least two years of supervised experience in health services.
Requires Licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Condition of Employment - Clinical Psychologist
1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related Policies and guidance.
2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Position Overview - Clinical Psychologist Associate
Under direct supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist for a period of 3 to 48 months, actively progresses to completion of all education and experience required to sit for the clinical psychology registration examination: participates in in-service and on-the-job training to develop further expertise in the field of clinical psychology consistent with the psychology career discipline, familiarity with department services and a working knowledge of department program policies, rules and procedures; receives controlled work assignments of increasing difficulty, complexity and responsibility; conducts psychological interviews, conducts, scores and interprets psychological tests; participates in psychological treatment procedures and case management.

Job Responsibilities - Clinical Psychologist Associate
1.  For a period of 3 to 48 months, actively progresses to completion of all education and experience required to sit for the clinical psychology registration examination.
2.  Under qualified supervision, conducts psychological interviews, conducts, scores and interprets psychological tests.
3.  As a member of the treatment team, attends and participates in informing team on initial assessment and findings for newly admitted patients.
4.  Under qualified supervision, develops special programs for fitness to stand trial and various maladaptive behaviors.
5.  Under qualified supervision, conducts individual and group therapy as needed.
6.  Participates in the psychology department training programs in teaching, training, and seminars. Provides training and guidance to junior trainees.
7.  Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications - Clinical Psychologist Associate
Requires satisfactory completion of a pre-doctoral clinical internship and all doctoral course work from an accredited, doctoral level psychology program - both of which are recognized by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as satisfactory.
