Vocational Rehabilitation Caseload Assistant

Hourly: $22.50

Two pay rate increases guaranteed within the first year!

Most positions offer the flexibility of a hybrid schedule that combines working from home with regular in-office and/or community presence. In-person work requirements may change for training, meetings, and other operational needs. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements. Daytime travel within Ohio may be required.
 
This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the SEIU/1199 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Who We Are:
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). A fourth area is the Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), which is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers.

OOD works with partners in businesses, education, and non-profit organizations to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities; helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities; and is the sole agency determining medical and vocational Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)
OOD operates Ohio’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program. Through the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired, the VR program provides services to eligible individuals with disabilities to assist them in getting and keeping a job. Disabilities may include physical, intellectual, mental health, or sensory disabilities. OOD works with adults seeking to enter the workforce or retain a job, and with youth beginning at age 14, to assist them as they transition from high school into college and/or the workplace. For more information click here.
  
Bureau for Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI)
  • Develops and coordinates statewide vocational rehabilitation (VR) programs related to VR and Independent Living (IL)
  • Develops standards for services outlined by management and Workforce Integration Taskforce by serving as subject matter expert (SME) on specific barriers to employment faced by individuals with vision loss (e.g., Orientation and Mobility, Vision Rehabilitation Therapy, and Assistive Technology)
  • Conducts targeted provider outreach (e.g., develops goals, proposes action steps/strategies) to identify and facilitate referrals of individuals with sensory impairments to increase referral development and new service providers in underserved areas

What is a Caseload Assistant (CA)?

The CA position varies based on the need of your area. 

  • General CA - position that supports the front door process of our local offices among other supportive duties as assigned.  
  • Job Development (JD) - position focuses on assisting consumers with job seeking skills training, interviewing skills and assists them with securing and maintaining employment.
  • Talent Sourcing Coordinators (TSC) - position focuses on assisting our internal to increase job placements within companies who are a part of the Business Leadership Network. 
  • Career Resources - Position focuses on meeting with individuals in subminimum wage employment to promote opportunities for competitive integrated employment and share information about supported employment services and career options.

Qualifications

 
Undergraduate degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, disability studies, special education, business administration, human resources, economics, or related rehabilitation or human services area.

OR

24 months' experience in the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services (e.g. job development, certified vocational evaluator, vocational specialist).

OR

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Selection Process: Position(s) are filled through a two-part process, which consists of a test and structured interview. All parts of the assessment will be administered remotely at this time. The test is tentatively scheduled to be held the week of June 12.
