This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the AFSCME/OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

The anticipated start date for Videographer is July 12, 2023.

The position currently offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule that combines working from home with regular in-office and/ or community presence. In-person work requirements may change for training, meetings, and other operational needs. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements (at OOD central office/headquarters, 150 E. Campus View Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215). Daytime travel within Ohio may be required.

Hourly: $27.84

Two pay rate increases guaranteed within the first year.

Who We Are:

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). A fourth area is the Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), which is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers.

What We Do:

OOD works with partners in businesses, education, and non-profit organizations to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities; helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities; and is the sole agency determining medical and vocational Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio. OOD Office of Communications

The OOD Office of Communications works to advance OOD's brand reputation by promoting our programs, partnerships, initiatives, events, and people. The team's goal is to help the agency reach more people with disabilities who could benefit from OOD services.

What Does a Videographer Do?

Plan, shoot, and edit film projects. Produce and present exceptional video stories of participant successes. Create compelling ad video content for boosting programs, services, and recruitment. Edit and combine multiple source material (e.g., raw footage, stock video, existing clips) into video content for public service announcements, various audiences, web, and social media platforms. Operate audio/visual & other electronic video production equipment [e.g., video cameras, lighting equipment, studio with green screen, teleprompters, microphones]. Ensure video accessibility. Write scripts and questions for events and series Utilize a computer and digital storage optimized for video production. Maintain equipment and digital organization.

Qualifications

 
Completion of undergraduate core program in communications with emphasis on electronic media, video production, cinematography or visual communication.
 
OR

Completion of associate core program in graphic communication technology or multimedia production technology; AND 12 months training or 12 months experience in operation &/or maintenance of video production equipment (e.g., frame synchronizer; video switcher; digital video effects generator; video distribution amplifier; media 100 system; graphics/character generator computer; edit controller computer; stereo audio mixing console; digital audio/video/graphics work station).
 
OR,

36 months training or 36 months experience in operation &/or maintenance of video production equipment (e.g., frame synchronizer; video switcher; digital video effects generator; video distribution amplifier; graphics/character generator computer; edit controller computer; stereo audio mixing console; digital audio/video/graphics work station).
 
OR,

Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
 
 
Knowledge of: public relations; agency policies and procedures (i.e., OOD) *government structure and process (e.g., local, state, federal) *; electronic data processing (e.g., web editor Dreamweaver, visual studio code); inventory control.
 
Skill in: word processing; equipment operations (e.g., general office equipment, computer and peripheral equipment); visual/graphic design application (e.g., website development).
 
Ability: use proper research methods in gathering data; originate and/or edit technical, scientific or advanced literary publications; gather, collate and classify information about data, people, or things; handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public.

Selection Process: Interviews are tentatively scheduled to be held June 20 and 22 of 2023 and will consist of a virtual interview and portfolio review. All communications are sent via email through our application system. Candidates should make sure their account contains an email address that is checked regularly including checking junk and/or clutter.
