Forestry Technician (Southern Region )

Summary

This position is assigned a variety of recurring technical duties individually or as a crew member, in support of a unit's various natural resource management program areas.

Major Duties.

• Perform a range of standardized forestry support duties for recreation, wildlife, silviculture, timber, or watershed.
• Assists in one or more of the following duties: noting compliance with rules and regulations on parking, campfire, sanitation, use of picnic sites, or hunting and fishing; maintaining and cleaning up recreation/wilderness areas; cruising timber by following specific instructions on taking and recording simple measurements and running compass lines in the field using compass and chain; or performing various standard duties related to silviculture, wildlife, or watershed activities under direct supervision.
