The salary listed above includes the 3% pay increase that goes into effect on July 1, 2024.

Manage enterprise-level telecommunications and network systems for WDFW, encompassing acquisition, installation, maintenance, and security consulting for both on-premises and cloud-based systems. 

Responsibilities will include configuring and monitoring Infrastructure as Code and AI-driven technology. Additionally, support statewide networking and voice infrastructure by implementing process and procedures to support the agency telephony, networking, and security needs.

As a Level 3 administrator of the Physical Security Environments for security camera and access control systems.   

With your experience, 

Consult and provide recommendations to non SGN sites on network connectivity, that include fiber optics, satellite, or cellular technologies.    

The optimal applicants, 

Will have the ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of network technologies including, but not limited to, router, switching, VPN, and Wi-Fi technologies.

We are seeking a candidate,

Duties:

Here is what you will be doing, 

Physical Security (Security Cameras and Door Security): 

  • Assist the agency expert in the installation and configuration and management of access control systems.
  • Provide law enforcement when security camera footage is needed.
  • Monitor for irregularities or security breaches.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to access control or video surveillance.
  • Responsible for ongoing software and hardware maintenance and management of the infrastructure that the access control systems reside on video surveillance AI technology support.
  • Responsible for the ongoing software and hardware maintenance and management of the access control systems.

Network Duties: 

  • Monitor the agencies’ firewalls and their configuration changes both on premises and the cloud.
  • Tracks all WaTech/Consolidated Technology Services (CTS) notifications and bulletins regarding firewall changes, WAN connectivity.  
  • Responsible for network security including firewalls, denial of service protection, intrusion detection/prevention, authentication systems, domain name services and web service security and protect it from unauthorized use or modification, accidental or intentional damage or destruction.  

Agency IT Facilities Duties:

  • Assist with performing installation and migration of network, cabling, physical security, and unified communications services.
  • Starlink Satellite Hardware installations at remote locations throughout the state.

Telecommunication Duties:

  • Administer, configure, and establish interfaces and interactions, following industry standards and activating remote access tools for agency telephony systems.  

Network Wi-Fi Duties:

  • Responsible for installation and configuration of Wi-Fi access points.
  • Assist Information Technology Services (ITS) staff with troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity issues.   

Remote Access, and Radio over IP (RoIP) Duties:

  • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Radio over IP (RoIP), NetMotion, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Washington State Patrol (WSP) encryption.  

Network Monitoring Duties:

  • Monitor all available logs for security purposes.
  • Responsible for monitoring and upgrading the server applications that support the network.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Setting, including hazards:
    • Office setting - may be required to work in tight spaces or work in data closets and data center.
    • Office hazards include working under fluorescent light, repetitively entering data into computer, and looking at computer monitor for long periods of time.
  • Schedule:
    • Typically, Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Some travel may be required to regional and other remote offices.
  • Tools and Equipment:
    • Hand tools, ladders, and networking equipment.
  • Customer Interactions:
    • Interacts with WDFW staff, Consolidated Technology Services (CTS)/WaTech, telco providers, other state agencies and vendors.

 

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent experience in computer science or a closely related field.

AND

  • Three (3) – five (5) years of experience working in a medium to large organization maintaining telecommunications OR network infrastructure services, such as Voice Over IP (VOIP) solution, security cameras, network security, firewalls, Domain Name Services (DNS), Access Control Lists (ACL), facilities etc.

AND 

  • Experience providing technical expertise and tier 3 escalated support in an organization supporting security infrastructure that spans a variety of technology platforms.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Must pass fingerprint and background check due to working with law enforcement and sensitive data.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: 

  • Cisco Certification(s).
  • Juniper Certification(s).
  • AWS Cloud Virtual Network Certification(s).
  • A+ Certification.
  • Network + Certification.
