Newborn Screening Program Follow-up Consultant

Responsibilities Include

  • Managing Health Data Systems (Primary Follow-Up for Assigned Disorders)
    • Oversee casework for all abnormal results, ensuring each baby receives appropriate medical care. Review screening results and determine follow-up actions based on laboratory data, demographic information, and previous specimens.
    • Report urgent results to healthcare providers immediately and facilitate diagnostic testing. Make referrals for non-urgent diagnostic testing as needed. Ensure babies with confirmed diagnoses receive proper medical care and treatment.
    • Work with clinic, midwife, and hospital staff to ensure subsequent specimens are submitted for babies with borderline or equivocal test results.
    • Maintain disorder-specific databases to monitor positive screening results and their outcomes.
  • Program Planning and Evaluation
    • Use experience and clinical knowledge to identify areas for improvement in the follow-up of abnormal results.
    • Collect and analyze screening performance data to evaluate program effectiveness and present findings to follow-up staff and management.
  • Policy Development and Implementation
    • Use program evaluation analyses to propose improvements to management, develop new policies and procedures, and evaluate their impact. Report results to follow-up staff and management.

 

Location and Flexibility

We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. This remote position is available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.
