As an Applications Software Information Technology Specialist, the selectee will collaborate with program offices on technical tasks including designing, developing, testing, and implementing systems to meet business needs. Responsibilities include analyzing IT requirements, researching technologies, conducting studies, performing alternatives analyses, managing software projects, and minor contract management.

As an Application Software Information Technology Specialist, you will:

  • Ensure compliance, align contracts with objectives, and assist in project management for timely delivery and coordination.
  • Perform complex analytical work for the design, development, and implementation of advanced software solutions, with authority and responsibility to direct development, acquisition, integration and transition-to-production tasks and activities.
  • Collaboratively work with customer organizations to define business requirements, translate business requirements into system requirements and to perform requirements analyses to identify technology solutions.
  • Apply technology management principles to adapt IT methods to a variety of situations to perform highly technical and analytical work pertaining to the planning, development, integration, and/or modification of systems/applications, including market research for software solutions.
  • Provide assessment, oversight, and technical direction of integrated activities performed by contractors throughout the systems life cycle and serve as a technical advisor for the development of solutions, with authority and responsibility to direct their tasks and activities.
  • Foster and maintain open communications with customers and other IT teams to effectively deliver IT solutions and services and to provide advice and recommendations to senior management on emerging technologies and technology challenges, issues, and courses of action.

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Is a highly motivated, technically skilled information technology specialist with extensive experience in project management, solution architecture, and contract management within a large enterprise environment.
  • Should have a proven track record in managing software development activities including requirements deployment and analysis, and applying software development methodologies.
  • Is analytical, committed to delivering high-quality products and services, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have experience working collaboratively with program offices, stakeholders, and vendors to assess business requirements and successfully deliver projects (ranging from custom-developed software applications to commercial cloud solutions).
  • Will also stay current on technology trends, project management best practices, software development techniques, and innovations in government sector technology.
