Operations Intern - Business & Data Analyst

Role Overview:

NETGEAR is looking for an energetic and self-starting Operations Intern – Business and Data Analyst. The Intern will lead the development and execution of a wide range of analytics evaluating operational performance and cost-effectiveness in our complex supply chain network. The Intern will collaborate with logistics service providers, channel partners as well as internal NETGEAR Operations, Sales and Finance teams. The ideal candidate is an organized, multi-tasker comfortable working in a fast-paced, focused, and fun environment. This is a hybrid position, with 3 days’ work on-site at our San Jose, CA office and 2 days remote. We currently do not offer relocation assistance. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Refine and implement on-time performance metrics for NETGEAR’s global channel partners from regional fulfilment – e.g. timeliness of order picking, shipping and delivery
  • Develop and implement cost-productivity metrics across NETGEAR’s distribution, customer support and product remanufacturing network – Expense $’s per Unit Stored, Shipped, Refurbished, etc.
  • Evaluate cost and service level of NETGEAR transportation partners (air freight and sea freight costs) – generate insights and recommendations to inform procurement strategy
  • Interface with Operations, IT and Finance teams to source, vet, cleanse and analyze relevant data
  • Present regular process updates to senior management and detailed final report upon completion of internship

 

Qualifications: 

  • Current student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Major / field of study related to internship – Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research/Information Engineering, Management Science, Econometrics, Computer Science.
  • Strong Excel Skills (Advanced Formulae, Pivot Table, Lookup, Charting).
  • Familiar with SQL (for data retrieval) and Python (for data transformation)
  • Knowledge of enterprise-scale ERP and database systems
  • Tableau or similar data visualization package experience is a plus
  • A strong curiosity about a career in the field related to the internship and the networking industry.

Skills Needed to be Successful

  • Strong general analytical skills - i.e. ability to crisply define a problem, source/transform relevant data, visualize/summarize relevant output and generate actionable recommendations.
  • High attention to detail along with the ability to maintain focus on the ‘big picture’
  • General knowledge of global supply chain business networks (especially high tech hardware) and the functional domains within them (planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics).
  • Good interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment.

Compensation

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $25-$30/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed in each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, professional background, business need and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range.
