Accounts Receivable and Audit Specialist

CALPIA is seeking someone with State of California human resource experience specific to personnel functions. Assignments will include audits of Employment History, Payroll, Health Benefits, and Account Receivable tracking and collection. The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in a Personnel Transaction office and have excellent task monitoring, organizational, and Excel skills.

This temporary authorization for a Retired Annuitant (RA) is for a maximum of 440 through the remainder of this fiscal year (to June 30, 2025). Those with Staff Services AnalystPersonnel Specialist, and/or Senior Personnel Specialist RA eligibility will also be considered. Work hours and days will be flexible and hybrid telework is an option. On rare occasions, travel to California Medical Facility may be required.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Retired Annuitant (RA) is responsible for the more difficult and complex personnel/payroll audits. Responsible for researching critical personnel issues and recommending alternative solutions. Assist the Personnel Specialist (PS) with personnel/payroll processes, tracking and clearing Accounts Receivable,s and auditing employment history, pay, benefits, leave transactions, etc.  This assignment may require occasional in-office attendance at the Central Office in Folsom and possibly the California Medical Facility in Vacaville.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Desirable experience within the last 3 years with:

  • State of California Employment History, Payroll and Leave audits
  • State Controller’s Office database keying
  • Account Receivable/Salary Advance review, establishment, tracking, and collection, utilizing Excel
  • California Department of Corrections and or CALPIA processes
  • Communication and collaboration with agencies statewide   
  • Requires excellent organizational skills
